Adoption Policy

Our Scottish kittens do not leave our home until they are READY, which is around 12 weeks of age. Kittens going to non-show or non-breeding homes (a pet home) are spayed/neutered prior to them leaving.

Petal Paws Cattery does register our kittens (even the ones that are destined for pet or non-show homes.) Due to the importance of TICA registration, our policy regarding the individual registrations for each kitten is:

* A kitten buyer will have to decide on a registered name at least two weeks before the scheduled due date for the kitten to go to its new home.

* A registration number and slip will be provided to the new owner.

Scottish kitten prices will vary depending on adherence to the breed standard, color, availability, and other factors. 

* Scottish Fold/Straight

Golden     $2500-$3000

Creamy Chinchilla      $2700-$3200​​

Our cattery offers breeding rights for select colors for an extra charge, which is double the price of a chosen kitten. We welcome all inquiries from people that desire to possibly show or breed their Scottish kittens.

Once you decide that you want to be on our waiting list for a planned litter that is announced, a deposit of $150 is required to have you on the waiting list for this litter. We will notify you as soon as the litter is delivered with the available colors/gender of the delivered kittens. The waitlist is notified in the order of deposits received (we will notify the first person on the list to make their choice, then move to the second... etc.) If you decide when you are notified that there is a kitten that you would like to confirm as your choice, then we require you pay the remaining $600 for the total amount of $750 for the reservation deposit, to mark it as reserved on our website. At this time you will be required to sign a purchase agreement with Petal Paws Cattery (a copy will be sent to you for your records.)

Petal Paws Cattery does not permit in-person visitations until the time of a kitten's pickup, instead we can offer a VIDEO call. Petal Paws Cattery has multiple social media platforms where daily updates about the kittens are posted. Find the links to our Facebook and TikTok on the main page of the website.

If a kitten has been reserved and the kitten buyer cannot pay the remaining balance due, the buyer forfeits the deposit and will not receive a kitten. All deposits are considered "good faith" agreement between Buyer and Petal Paws Cattery as outline below:

1. Petal Paws Cattery agrees to "hold" said kitten for Buyer until said kitten can be placed into Buyer's care after 12 weeks of age, AND the balance due must be paid in full to Petal Paws Cattery (including, but not limited to, balance due and any associated delivery fees.) Said kitten would not be delivered or leave Petal Paws Cattery's home unless and until all monies are paid to Petal Paws Cattery and Buyer executes and returns a signed copy of the purchase agreement. If the balance due is not paid to Petal Paws Cattery at the agreed-upon time any deposit is deemed "forfeited."

Forfeiture: A deposit is forfeited if Buyer changes his/her mind and no longer desires to purchase said kitten from Petal Paws Cattery (for any reason) or is unable to pay Petal Paws Cattery the balance due on said reserved kitten within the agreed-upon time. Said forfeited deposit is considered liquidated damages to Petal Paws Cattery including but not limited to:

1. Petal Paws Cattery has turned away other potential buyers when a "hold" was placed on said kitten.

2. An older kitten has a drastically reduced value and can no longer be sold for the original purchase price. 

3. Between the time the kitten should have gone to its new home at approximately 12 weeks and when it is finally sold to a secondary purchaser, Petal Paws Cattery will have suffered the increased costs associated with the feeding, care, and other additional vaccinations required to keep the said kitten in saleable condition from the original date of sale onward.

Petal Paws Cattery reserves the right of "First Pick" of any litter. After evaluating the kittens for potential show/breeding quality, we reserve the right to our choice of which kitten (or kittens) we choose to keep BEFORE the people that have already given a deposit for a kitten and the people on the Wait List get to choose a kitten. We breed to continue a line, improve the breed, and hope to produce that one "perfect" kitten to continue our line. For these reasons, we reserve the right to keep a kitten that we feel will enable me to go forward in our breeding program. The rest of any litter will then be placed in qualified, forever homes based on deposits received and Wait List status. ​​​

Petal Paws Cattery reserves the express right to cancel a sale with the Buyer, if at any time before the kitten leaves our home, we determine that the placement of the kitten or cat with the Buyer will be harmful in any way to the kitten or not a good match for the kitten or Petal Paws Cattery. All monies paid to Petal Paws Cattery towards the purchase price of the kitten will be refunded to the Buyer ONLY if Petal Paws Cattery cancels a sale under this "Cancellation" policy.

Delivery or pickup is the sole responsibility of the new buyer. Petal Paws Cattery can help with information and booking but paying for any shipping will be the ultimate financial and logistic responsibility of the buyer. 

When picking up your kitten please be sure to bring a cat carrier for safe transportation of the kitten. No kitten will leave our home unless a carrier is provided. If a kitten buyer does not have a cat carrier with them on the date of pickup, a carrier can be purchased from us for $50.00. This provision is for the safety and well-being of the kitten or cat while traveling in your car. If a kitten buyer is unable to come to our home and pick their kitten up, the kitten buyer must arrange for a private courier as outlined above.
